the finding is the latest single from the cbs, other wise known as the world famous cuban brothers. this is their second single (misdemeanor jcity 001) to come off their eagerly awaited debuted artist album which is due out next year. the original is a funk filled odyssey which puts a smile on the face and causes the foot to tap of any listener! also on this package we are lucky enough to have two remixes. first up is the killer garage rub from the remix king doorly, backed up by another dance floor smasher from featurecast. this is a package and a half!
west coasts king & hound (james glass & dj garth) strike again with two more killer edits: my time your time a guitar driven german rock jam from 1980 that easily gets re-edited into a cosmic disco cut and tubular bells which a cover of mike oldfields classic used in halloween.
uttu drop this double aaa banger from chicagos legendary alias g, having released previously a wide selection of gangsta hip hop in the late ninties on labels diverse at trax & missing records, hes recently turned his hand to classic house with the help of local friends marcus mixx, king farley jackmaster funk & gene hunt.
in a time when rock critics saw the prodigy as a glorified keyboard player flanked by a couple of weird and scary dancers, liam howlett & co showed the world how dance had evolved away from the club scene and into the festivals & arenas.
and they did that by staying true to their own sound. while dance moved from acid house to rave to ambient to breakbeat & drum n bass, the prodigy changed their brand of hard-hitting breakbeat with king-sized hooks and unmissable samples only sparingly.
always outnumbered, never outgunned was the long-awaited album after their breakthrough smash fat of the land. featured on the album are namesake liam gallagher, kool keith, twista and even juliette lewis, morphed and wrangled beyond recognition on an album that goes back to the core of what the prodigy stands for: a thumping bass, mad beats & noise flying every which way but loose!
recorded in late 2010 and mixed in a remote studio during the finnish snowstorms of early 2011, donky pitch present >the trick ep<, by helsinki resident and skweee pioneer v.c. six original tracks of synth soaked computer funk, electro inspired slow jams and colourful hip hop heaters. v.c. has been making moves in the skweee scene since the early days (as a solo artist and as 1/4 of supergroup yt). his combination of layered synths, hip hop beats and that type of funk only found in the cold reaches of the nordic region have scored him releases on every skweee label going (flogsta danshall / harmnia / mssy / ddpop / disques mazout) as well as ramp recordings. we felt it only right that he commanded our first true foray into the scandinavian electro funk sound of skweee.
his single comes to people that make the music records from one of house musics most eminent production teams: first ibiza lady alla farmer, mateo & matos and ukrainian singer and producer vincent inc, chris gray from deep4life, jazzy house veteran john crockett and uplifting deep king brendan mccarthy aka aquatherium. though not stereo-typically their style, this set of tunes give good credence to their soft house music production ability. they set the scene for sounds entering as a funky bassline, squealy guitar riff, and classic 4/4 drum loop. john remix consist mainly of dubby bubbly conga rhythms, cosmic chords, floaty synths, musical saw tones and a nice rubbery bassline. aquatherium remix is pure non-intrusive, house music that is great for the sunset beach session or even the roller disco! chris & alla made eclectique deep house which is just a dope! the remixed single tracks have been mixed together to give it a beefy blend that would be perfect for the floor of many poorly lit dance dwellings. people that make the music has stepped forward with a brilliant ep of insatiable grooves.
this ep takes 3 of fergies finest musical works and hands over the remix responsibilities to more heavyweight names including: pig & dan, reset robot and the mighty king unique! you know what to expect on this one. now its simply a matter of placing it on the turntable and watching the club go wild!
a big release from the om records team. this latest cut from miguel migs really is seriously dope. migs dub mix does exactly what you want and expect providing musical house music at its finest. throw into the equation the fact that all three of the remixes are done by artists that serve up serious heavyweight tracks and you get a four track piece of prime vinyl. soul clap (possibley the biggest success story of 2011 along side seth troxler) produce a finely tweaked and expertly executed remix which lives up to every bit of the soul clap hype. aki bergen from neurotraxx fame also smashes it on the remix front gracing us with a deep grooving interpretation to nod our heads in the clubs. finally, hardsoul (if you don’t know who they are where have you been hiding) do what they do best, vocal house gold. a quality release not to be missed
we love this record, it really puts the dub in dubstep. their first two releases have sold out and this has been doing well on promo which shows there is a real market out there for this style which really goes back to the early beginnings of how dubstep came about. on the a you are treated to a full vocal mix with lutan fyah in the booth and on the flip there is a dub mix which roles out nicely.
the main stem debut with >contortion danse< their first single for lipservice. it oozes new-wave swag, with james flanagans vocals setting the scene. clash-esque guitar chops and cowbell pings are the order-of-the-day with a hefty bass line and drum workout that keep the groove bumping.
now the remixes, first up the rhythm odyssey warehouse dub takes the track down a dirty groove dubbing things up and adding some 808 rhythms and tribal bass coming on like a undiscovered nu groove release! the band drop their own remix keeping it smooth and hypnotic with echoes of the beloved. last but definitley not least birmmingams slo-mo house / beatdown king mark-e provides us with a epic mix of >yes sacrifice<, mark-e takes us on a spine tingling electronica journey.. oh yes!
look out for the main stems long player >electric church< coming soon.

finally scum recordings unleashes its next talents.. crushtington hailing from new zealand is no unknown face in the dnb scene.. can you guess who it is? and like the dnb they make this dubstep isnt for the faint hearted. as your used to from the scum camp were bringing you next level heavyweight riddims and this release is no exception. the single starts off with big hit.. a electrified stepper with a hefty 4x4 drop.. crushtington shows what their worth right here and now with this one. smash this one on the decks and see the dancefloor crumble at your feet. no happy jum up styles here just straight up grimness! next up its king koopa. unlike the giant lizard who super mario needs to defeat to save his precious princess this is one ferocious, mean, fire breathing track that wont let go so easy. this one packs a punch that will knock any mushroom or fire flower straight out of your big body in seconds. so better make sure you got some 1ups to make it through this one!

felinephonix music sets off 2011 with the first installment of a limited edition vinyl selection from the project house of label artist & founder, mieka du franx, with exclusive dj support from kim ann foxman (hercules & love affair) and nina kraviz (rekids | underground quality). du box chronicles is an intimate collection of works & collaborations set to press. vol. 1 presents abe duque, the acid tech king of new york who delivers an elegant, journey-esq arrangement of avant guard deep house that inspires an uplifting vibe beautifully orchestrated with the warm vocals of mieka du franx, titled >du light<. >du what i du< (dub) is all about the hook and dig on that housey bass line, a classy rendition of the original that takes this number back. the 20th release of felinephonix music marks well earned return to wax. the label’s early most notable works were done with heavy hitters kink, jay tripwire, chris carrier, and fm attack, whose productions can be found along side mieka du franx. the hits that gained high recognition were from mixmag’s top djs of 2010 including kissy sellout (bbc radio 1) and luciano (cadenza), as well as support from derrick may, ralph falcon, hernan catteneo, rodriguez jr., mark henning, and many more.
over the course of nine albums in the 2000s for their producer-led beat generation series, bbe adopted an unusual stance. >do what you want<, their artists were told for probably the first time in their careers. the labels enormously liberal approach was the antithesis of stiff major record label a&r practices, their forward thinking rewarded handsomely by a truly diverse set of albums from some of the worlds most capable hip-hop architects.
back at the tail end of the last millennium bbe released a comprehensive overview of house music in the latter stages of the 20th century. >henry street music: the story so far - 1993 to 1999< was a slice of superior contemporary club classics featuring all of the key players, architects and music makers of the day. todd terry, armand van helden, kenny dope, dj sneak, 95 north, robbie rivera, davidson ospina, ralphi rosario, mike delgado, king britt, and a handful of others under various alter egos and nom de plumes. it was a given that they were all great records, what was all the more impressive was that they all originated from the same recording home, henry street music. a label conceived and devised by johnny demairo, an italian-american from jersey who talked the talk, could easily have been an extra in the sopranos, and was known affectionately as the shark. to others he was just plain johnny d, and one half of the production duo johnick with studio partner nicky p palermo jr. tracks such as d2- d2 by dj duke are collectors classics and will be re-released and re-mastered on vinyl for the first time in over 10 years
sam shackleton stalks deeper into the sub-loaded unknown, with two valentines day releases for honest jons, loaded with spectacular remixes by kevin martin, t++ and baron mordant, all stunningly mastered by rashad becker, and presented with startling artwork by zeke clough. this first 12 inch features the original plus remix from kevin martin aka king midas sound.

naruto is a midtempo cosmic disco chugger with fragments of spiritual jazz and swampy blues. the remix by r&r is a mix of robot disco & deep techno. comes on 180 gram vinyl.
dj roc, known to his mother as clarence johnson, was born and raised on the southside of chicago better known as the low end. the crack in >crack capone< refers to his style of production. like an underground chemist, dj roc produces variant strains of chicago juke music, the crack referring to the synapse snapping, potentially ankle cracking manipulation of rhythms and the sampling, hijacking and ultra-rhythmic micro-editing of black american pops dominant forms into a style thats been developed and tested on the streets of chicago.
just just >just sort of happened< according to producers fake chicken and cheap soap. although the piece has a deep and elaborate sound, the production process was unusually quick, as everything just fell into place after the duo was inspired by a great summer season in music. just just is fake chicken and cheap soaps first release on greenhorn records, alongside tigerskins and king rocs remixes of the track
